How to plan a Seattle trip
The classic first Seattle visit mixes three things: the downtown icons (Pike Place Market, the waterfront, the Space Needle), the neighborhoods where the city actually lives (Ballard, Fremont, Capitol Hill), and the outdoors that surround it โ Puget Sound in front, Mount Rainier behind. The mistake most first itineraries make is treating those as a checklist rather than a geography. Our Seattle guides group each day by area, use the light rail and monorail instead of a rental car where possible, and build in a weather plan, because the Northwest asks for one.
Seattle is also a natural cash-vs-points city: it is a major hub for Alaska Airlines’ Atmos Rewards program and well served by United from Denver, and downtown hotels span every major points currency. Every itinerary here will carry the same cash-vs-points box as our Colorado guides.
Seattle guides on the way
3-Day Seattle Itinerary โ First Time
The core plan: Pike Place and the waterfront on day one, neighborhoods and museums on day two, and a mountain or island day to finish.
Coming soonSeattle Without a Car
A full itinerary built on the Link light rail, the monorail, ferries, and your feet โ including the airport-to-downtown arrival, step by step.
Coming soonMount Rainier Day Trip from Seattle
Paradise or Sunrise? Timed-entry realities, the drive broken down, the best short hikes by season, and what to pack for mountain weather.
Coming soonSeattle With Kids
The family version of the 3-day plan: aquarium and zoo pacing, rainy-day backups, and neighborhoods that work with a stroller.
Coming soonSeattle in Winter โ What Changes
Shorter days, cozier city: what stays open, what to skip, the holiday-season highlights, and the rain-shell packing list that matters.
Coming soonDenver to Seattle Long Weekend
The repeat trip, optimized: flight timing, cash vs. miles on the route, and a lighter itinerary for people who have done the icons already.
Coming soonWhile the Seattle guides are being written
The format starts in Colorado: the 3-Day Breckenridge Winter Weekend Itinerary shows exactly how every Alpine to Aloha guide is built โ day-by-day blocks, logistics first, and a cash-vs-points box before you commit to anything. Seattle’s guides follow the same template when they land.
